Our Don't Tread Latin Banknote design riffs off of a $20 bill issued in Georgia in 1778. The banknote, which was funded by the forfeitures of British loyalists, adopted the Latin, Nemo me impune lacessit (No one provokes me with impunity).
It was the motto of the Stuarts of Scotland around the 16th century and also adopted by The Order of the Thistle and the Scottish regiments of the British Army. The thistle had a very similar representation to the Scots that the rattlesnake did to early Americans. In early Scottish tradition, Vikings crying out after stepping on the thistle warned the Scots that they were under attack.
Printed on our favorite soft and slightly structured t-shirt. Runs true to size and is flattering on just about everyone.
